THE SHIP THAT NEVER WAS
by B.J. BRYAN
The United States Merchant Marine provided the greatest sealift in history between the production army and the fighting forces scattered around the globe in World War II. Merchant ships faced danger from submarines, mines, armed raiders, and destroyers, aircraft (kamikaze), and the elements.
This book, THE SHIP THAT NEVER WAS, is a tribute for those whose lives were cut short – some blown to death, some incinerated, some drowned, some froze, and some starved. Thirty-one ships vanished without a trace to a watery grave.
It is a story about many ships, many men, many crossings across the sea to deliver war supplies to several nations that were considered friendly toward the United States and needed our help to fight and supply them with much needed materials.
